The Royal Irish Rifles were attacking the area around Ankre River and clearing the way to Beaucourt railway station, along with the unit on their right.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe first wave did reasonably well and made progress across the 400 yard wide No-Mans Land. He enlisted 5 June 1915 and served with the 25th Battalion Australian Imperial Force.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe came on Battalion strength on 12 October 1915 at Gallipoli.  He then went to Alexandria, Cairo, Tel-el-Kebir, Abbassia and during this time became ill with pneumonia and then dysentry, then veneral disease (on several occasions...), eventually arriving back in Plymouth on 23 May 1916.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe forfitted 13 days pay soon after, for going AWOL for 13 days. Pattison of the 2nd R.W.F., which also shows a date of death of 22 June 1916. T Pattison does not appear on CWGC nor on Soldiers Died.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI can only assume that the MICs both belong to Peter Pattison, but the MIC entitling him to a 14 Star has the wrong first initial. I've not seen it confirmed anywhere, but it is likely a 'faker' spotted this anomaly and created a number of fakes that would be difficult to detect before the age of the internet, as the second MIC only shows Peter Pattison as entitled to a pair (but he was entitled to a 14 trio).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFinally, I can confirm that I have previously sold another Star named to 8731 T.
