An original British 1914/15 Star Medal, length of replacement ribbon, correctly named to;

1762. 2-CPL. J. F. KEYES, R.E.

James Keyes was entitled in a 15 trio, having arrived in Egypt on 30 March 1915.  He also served with the R.E. under s/n 558277 and 12th Battalion London Regiment (The Rangers) under s/n 1498. He was also awarded the French Medaille Militaire and came from Finchampstead in Berkshire.

He is noted on CWGC as having been killed in action on 1 December 1917 (stated as 11 December on Soldiers Died), when serving with the 29th Division Signal Co.

At the time of his death they were in the line near Ribecourt, south west of Cambrai.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial.
