Three V-Mails sent to Captain Alfred L Rideout, dated between January and May 1945. One is typed and apparently from Captain Rideout's sister. Rideout was part of the 514th Fighter Squadron, 406th Fighter Group. During the War the Group flew the P-47 Thunderbolt arriving in England in March 1944. They flew low level tactical and ground attack missions over France during the build up to D-Day from their base at Ashford in Kent.
After D-Day the unit moved into France and then Germany. A photograph from Wikipedia is also attached to the listing, showing the unit's P-47s in Belgium in April 1945, the same time Captain Rideout was with them.
The second photograph is taken from the Festungswerke Cuxhaven website and shows Captain Rideout on the far left, pictured in June 1945 at Nordholz Airbase.
