An original 1914/15 Star, length of original ribbon, correctly named to;
8469 PTE. P. W. STEWARD. SUFF. R.
Percy Steward is recorded on CWGC as having been killed in action on 13 November 1916 whilst serving with the 2nd Battlation.
The war diary shows them attached to the 3rd Division at this time and on the 13th were involved in an attack on Serre. There is a lot of detail on the attack in the war diary, which is on Ancestry or the National Archives. The Battalion suffered huge casualties this day, some 272 dead, wounded or missing.
He has no know grave and is commemorated on the Theipval Memorial.
He was entitled to a 15 Star trio.
