An original American M1 helmet this being the front seam variation, with fixed, rather than swivel bales for the straps. This denotes early World War Two manufacture by McCord.
Heat stamp visible inside the brim, reading 780B (I think), this denoted February 1944ish manufacture and right before the switch over from fixed bales to swivel bales.
