The humble tan tie was universal in the American Army for most of World War Two. Some very early entrants to the Second World War wore a black tie. This variation was worn by officers and enlisted men, as part of the 'Class A' dress uniform, or the 'Class B' uniform with wool trousers and an M-41 jacket.
