An original World War One era medal pair, comprising the British War Medal and Victory Medal, complete with Death Plaque.  Medals are named as follows;

2657 PTE. S. A. BRAND. SUFF. R.

Sidney Brand's Medal Index Card shows he was entitled to a pair.  The MIC does not state this, but is noted on the CWGC website to have been killed in action on 27 September 1916, whilst serving the 7th Royal West Kents under s/n G-18136.  This also shows he previously served with the Suffolk Regiment (3/1st Suffolk Yeomanry) under service number 2657. He was the son of Kate Brand of Oulton Broad, Suffolk.  His service record still exists and is available on Ancestry. He was a 25 year old when he died, formerly a butcher and a territorial soldier.  He had only been transferred to the RWK's 20 dayus before his death.

CWGC notes he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
